@JimmyAkin but “by the book”ers (like myself) do. It is almost similar to Bible translations as I tread cautiously not treat my diet or lifestyle to be of the same religious fervor as I do my Spiritual side. At what point will I give up NIV84 for the latest NIV or some future translation, I am not sure. There may be some benefit to more recent exegesis and translations, but thinking is good enough. Sorry for the long winded explanation, but it is persnickety topic.
@JimmyAkin Therefore, he didn’t have much goal or drive to add it to the list. It makes the list somewhat static due to his mortality and perhaps won’t be reflective in 25 years or 50 years of changing food landscapes, but at the moment, I consider his to be the gold standard. Now, in the latest version of the Atkins Diet (2010), they have added certain things like almond milk that the 2002 version did not allow.
Now a general low carber probably doesn’t care one way or the other.
@JimmyAkin Essentially it comes down to Induction being more than just 20 net carbs or less. Induction is about setting the bare minimum to guarantee success, and things like cream while very low carb or essentially 0g can cause some food sensitivities to come out. So Dr. Atkins went out and pretty much put a line in the sand, and said these I think are acceptable and these I’ll save for later.
Now it could be said that prior to his death not many people were eating chia seeds.
Thanks for the info! I’m confused about one thing, though: If the chia seeds are net carb 0, why do they make the recipe induction unfriendly? Thanks again!
@alphacause Yep, I think his recipe is similar to the homemade cereal recipe that I posted late last night too. I am fully for making your own, but sometimes convenience is nice especially when away from home. It’s my same philosophy as I follow with things like low carb sports drinks or even alfredo sauce.
@Amilitantatheist Just straight nuts while good don’t hold together or get cereal feel, which is why the recipe I posted and my favored one add stuff like flax and chia seed which get that cereal mouth feel when introduced to the milk (almond or LC Milk).
Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt, who is a low carb doctor in Sweden, who is gaining a lot of prominence in the low carb community, came up with his own recipe for a low carb alternative to cereal. Just do a Google search with the words “LCHF-breakfast in the summer”, and click on the first link. I like his version of low carb cereal because it uses whole ingredients that you mix yourself, and it is not as highly processed as the prepackaged low carb cereals.
@javery1427 Unfortunately, Dreamfield’s report net carb count for many is way underestimated. Many people have the same blood glucose impact as if they had eaten real pasta.
I want to thank you for being honest. You have the most honest review out right now especially about the smell. I like fish but i don’t think I want my pasta to smell like fish. I was sure it would take up the taste of what ever it’s cooked w/ though because of course tofu is like a sponge. I may still look for another alternative I’m still not sold on this product. Thanks again. Blessings.
Thanks for the review on these “noodles” I can get them locally, but I am doing induction for at least a month..It is hot here in ohio and the sooner the weight come off the better!
Thanks for mentioning the induction point!
@markp1313 I don’t understand how some people don’t have the smell problems and some people smell it no matter how long you rinse them and cook in the sauce. For me it just wasn’t worth the additional work, and I can simply without the noodles in my life.
LOL Fish has omega 3 fatty acids … I cut the top off the bag, squeeze the water out and dump into what ever I am eating at the time. No fish taste! The noodles have a very recessive trait when it comes to taste vs smell. The texture however is an acquired taste. Don’t think of these as noodles, think about health and loosing weight instead. DR: Atkins should have won a Nobel peace prize in medicine!
what I found out about helping the smell is to boil the Shirataki for about 2-3 minutes before cooking. It will make the noodle gets a little more firm as well. I really love this one even before I’m on diet!
@kackleful I am glad you liked them. This is one of those personal preference foods. Some people will love them, and for others the process of desmellification is just off-putting. For me I am mostly in the second camp. There are many things I can eat that messing with these just seems like a lot of work, but I’ll keep suggesting others find out for themselves.
thank you for this video,i have tried these noodles, but the smell did put me off!!but once they were cooked they were quite good,i thought!! as long as the smell went away,i love the thought that there are no Carb’s or Cal’s in them!!
Hood milk is only 3 grams of carbs per 8 oz’s and tastes like 2%milk, good stuff made with splenda.

@snowsmoke1115 I would use either just Parmesan cheese or toasted flax bread (recipe posted here on Youtube) run through a food processor..

Mixed nuts (not peanuts), berries and unsweetened almond milk. Best cereal ever.
Hi Bowulf, I wanted to know what bread crumbs can I use to make samon cake with if you know please share.

At first it bothered me, but now the fishy smell is fine. Microwaving them seems to kill the smell unless I put my nose into the food.
@MysteriousButterly It would be fine in the OWL phase in the more vegetables rung.
What phase in atkins can you add the noodles??

Keep up the great work Kent!
@ibtakeslives If I ever buy them again, I’ll try that method. As rinsing for 5-6 minutes was excessive for the benefit I got.
i rinse them and then microwave them for 1 minute, kills the smell completely.

I agree about Dr. Atkins.
I have them in Miso soup.

@steveogurule These are like the third or fourth brand I have tried, and they all have had this nasty smell.
You must have a bad brand because mine have NO smell. Try Miracle noodles they have no smell. YUK dude why would you not try another brand lol!!
@Ronicaleigh1 Glad you like them… I know there are many out there that do. I am just not a huge fan due to the initial smell.
These noodles are phenomenal. I am losing 1-2 pounds a day by subsituting my lunch and dinner with a pasta dish made with these noodles.
@bowulf had it with turkey meatballs to taste test this morning and could not last for the morning or afternoon…
i shall persist.
@Jojeeh Yeah, it’s definitely one of those “acquired” tastes or smells.
OMG! YOU WERE NOT KIDDING ABOUT THE HORRENDOUS SMELL!!
thanks for the review! i bought several bags of this noodle hoping it’ll help with my diabetes.
@sarahhems Sorry, I normally find mine in either an asian market or the health food aisle of my grocery store near the tofu section.
where can i buy these noodles in canada?????

@popinjay3000 I try that later, but honestly I am probably done with trying these noodles. It just was not worth the effort for the results.
